Vacation 09!

Every year we go to the beach the first week in July. It is something the family looks forward to all year, and we really enjoy spending time together. Our house is right on the beach and it just doesn’t get any better than this!

Chase had such a good time playing in the sand, and while his Aunts and Uncles are terrific with him, there is no one above his Pop Pop in Chase’s eyes!

Jimmy got in on the beach action as well, he hung out with me under the umbrella. As much as I miss being in the sun, I burn while wearing SPF 70 so I give up!

I know I might be a *bit* biased, but I think these are two handsome little men! A century ago I could have made some good money off arranged marriages for these heartbreakers.

So all in all it was a great week with the family I am so blessed to have married into such an amazing group of people! I am already looking forward to next years trip. Chase will be days away from 3 and Jimmy will be 18 mos, thats sounds about perfect to me!

PS- While I am the shortest by a couple inches I am not THIS short. I dug into the sand a bit to make sure you could see Sarah behind me!

The Story Behind The Sign

I was wandering around the interwebs late last night trying to figure out what I wanted on my new blog. I was trying to be productive, and not get caught up actually reading the blogs, I was more interested in what they had going on, besides actual content.

Then I came across this picture:
lion The Story Behind The Sign
The blogger had written that it had amused him enough to take a picture of it, because obviously if there was enough of an issue to make a sign, people had been sprayed before.
Not so funny to me. I have, for the last 23 years, been the butt of one of the biggest jokes in my family.
I was 3. My parents had decided one beautiful, sunny, Saturday afternoon to pack my 10 yr old brother and I up and take us to the Cape May County Zoo. I was wearing a white sundress and white sandals and had my red curls up in pigtails.
We had a great afternoon walking around and looking at all the animals. Towards the end of the day we had a bit of lunch and my parents let me get a small Sprite. What a HUGE treat for me!
As we made our way back around towards the front of the zoo to leave, we noticed that the lion had finally come out of his cave. We had stopped by earlier, but had met with disappointment when he was nowhere to be found. He was an older lion, and a bit grouchy the sign said, so we felt lucky to see him out!
I stood at the railing and sipped my Sprite out of the straw. The cup was didn’t have a lid, I’m not sure why..maybe they didn’t have them? Maybe I threw it out? I don’t know.
I looked up to tell my Mother how excited I was to finally see the BIG kitty…and the damned lion lifted his tail and peed/sprayed all over me.
All.Over.Me.
And my whites sundress. And my white Sandals. And in my Sprite.
I don’t really remember much of this, but I can assure you that it is brought up enough that I know the story well. My brother likes to remind me that while I was standing there, covered in lion pee…all I cared about was that I couldn’t finish my Sprite.
There is a sign in the Cape May County Zoo similar to the one above…and now you know why.

Frazzled.

Things are getting in gear around here for the summer. Holy Busy Batman.

My summer class just began, and it will run to the 2nd of July. I HATE taking classes in the summer, but it was needed before my fall classes, so oh well.

On June 22nd I start my summer schedule at the YMCA, working one day a week in the babysitting room. I like doing this in the summer since I can bring both boys with me and Chase gets to play with some kids his age. Plus I score a 90$ a month membership for free, definitely an added bonus for this Fatty Patty 2X4.

On the 4th of July we leave to go to Ocean City MD with the whole family for a week. I cannot wait. I look forward to this trip every year. This year should be interesting, since Jimmy will only be 5 months old, but we will pull it off. * IF ANYONE HAS TAKEN A BABY THIS YOUNG TO THE BEACH AND HAS ADVICE PLEASE COMMENT!! KTHANKS.*

We come home on the 11th, and then we have Chase’s 2nd birthday on the 24th. Wow. I don’t know where the time is getting away from me…this is nuts. I think we are going to have two small parties, one for his little friends at our home, and one for the family at my in laws.

Among all of this insanity I also need to schedule Jimmy’s baptism. I’m thinking it’s not going to happen till after our vacation, since the weekends in June are already so busy for our family, and the chosen godparents.

August HOPEFULLY will be quiet. I would really like some down time before my fall classes start, since they are really going to be tough for me.

So there it is. Summer of insanity. What happened to being a kid and the summer meant nothing but free time and riding my bike. Man I miss that.

I leave you with a picture of Chase…kid is ready for the beach for sure.
