Oh What A Night

Dear 2010,

This is not a good start between you and I. I thought we had talked about this sort of behavior and I was confident we had come to an agreement.

Do you not remember the discussion about your bitch ass friend, 2009? I’m fairly sure that 2009 was in cahoots with the insurance companies, with all the co-pays that were reaped from my friends and family in the hospital.

So 2010, starting the year with my Dad being admitted to the hospital with Acute Respiratory Failure and the Exacerbation of COPD was not the proper way to get off on the right foot with me. Seeing his O2 levels dropping lower and lower even though he was on a breathing treatment was not the way I wanted to spend my Monday. Listening to him try to talk, when he was barely getting enough air to survive was not part of the plan.

You are dammed luck 2010, that he is doing better this morning. While he has a long way to go,and this will likely be a long long winter on his weak lungs, he seems to be out of crisis at the moment. Hopefully his heart will be able to keep up with the extra work it is taking him to breathe.

2010? I’ve got your ass on notice. Consider yourself warned.

Father’s Day

My Dad and I have never really been close, and it’s kind of a shame. He has been in and out of the hospital these last few months, and we are hoping to see him back on his feet soon. Hopefully he can take a lesson in health from his own Mom. Happy Father’s Day Dad.

Now I move on to my kiddies Daddy.

What a great Dad he is. I truly couldn’t have chosen any better of a man to have children with. He loves them so fiercely, it is amazing to watch them all together. He plays with them, he comforts them and he he sets good examples for them to live by. I am so happy that I have this man to help me teach my boys life lessons, and to help them become good men with.

Happy Father’s Day Jim, you are much loved.

He’s a Father, not a Babysitter.

My husband is a great Daddy. He adores his baby boys and really enjoys them. That’s something that I am almost jealous of, I feel as though I get too caught up in when they ate, when they napped, and whether their faces are clean that I FORGET to play, and really enjoy the beauty that is my babies.

I work a couple days a week, and the boys are home with their Father. I think that it is important for all of them for that time to happen. Spousey needs that one on one time with them, as much as they need it with them. It is for sure tough sometimes, as my J is a true Mommas-Boy, but such a great thing for them to spend that time without me and bond.

It truly infuriates me when I have this conversations. It could be with any number of people, and I’ve had it many times.

Ignorant Fool- Where’s the kids, Ali?

Me- Home with their Dad.

Ignorant Fool- Ha, He’s stuck babysitting today?

Me-……..

No. He is not babysitting. He is parenting. He is not a teenager from down the street that I pay to watch my children while I get my hair cut. He is their FATHER. He is teaching them how to build blocks, and how to make race tracks for their trucks. He is showing them the way to be good men. He is setting an example for them on how to treat women. He puts music on and dances with them. He can make J laugh louder than anyone besides C, and he is the object of C’s complete adoration.

I feel like every time someone asks me if he is “babysitting” or “stuck home with them”, they are undermining the beautiful relationship that Spousey has with his sons. He loves to spend time with them, and they love it right back.

Maybe your husband ‘babysits’. But I can assure you…mine does not. Hes a Father, not a Babysitter.
