An Incredible Day
I got to do something so beyond amazing yesterday.
I was able to introduce Maddie to the clinical director of my hospital’s NICU and leave a Friends Of Maddie support pack for a family with a micro-preemie. First…I need to thank Heatherand Mike for allowing me to be a part of this. It is such an honor to be able to help pass on a legacy as strong as Maddies.
The NICU at my hospital is the only Level III in our county and there are some very sick, long term care babies in it. We are blessed to have the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia connection, but we are generally self sufficient for most of our cases. S, the director, is so grateful to have more support packs coming. She sees first hand how much the little things mean to these families who have the weight of the world on their shoulders. She knows how it is more than the tangible goodies, but that it is the emotional support…just knowing that someone has knows how hard this is and is trying to comfort them. She really gets it. She knows how important it is for parents who have suffered a loss to know that their child is loved and mostly…remembered.
She shared my sentiment for sure on one point. She told me “I would have had to been put in a rubber room” if she had gone through what Heather and Mike have this past year. I am so humbled once again by the strength that has been shown by Heather and Mike this year. The way they have turned this horrible tragedy into something so amazing just leaves me at a loss for words. It hits even closer to home now.
I saw the difference they are making.
I saw the goosebumps on S’s arm’s as I explained how FOM is funded, and also touched on the amounts that were donated in Maddie’s name to the MOD’s last year.
I heard the emotion in her voice as she asked me about this little girl who is still making waves all over the place.
A tiny tot from Los Angeles just made the day of two over stressed, scared parents from the Philadelphia suburbs.
Pretty incredible.

AMAZING. It is so amazing. Heather and Mike, the legacy of Maddie, FOM, you, the whole thing.
I always wanted to do something after my brothers died. Given the nature, I didn’t know what. FOM is so wonderful and I will NEVER forget, “Purple for Maddie.”

Love this Ally. And it helps us all to know, that all the little things make a difference to someone who is walking this difficult road. Maddie’s spirit lives on in posts like these and she gives me the motivation to go out there and do what all of us really want to do – make a difference.
Thank you
Tricia : )
